King, Rufus
(24 mar. 1755, Scarborough, Mass., EE.UU.–29 abr. 1827, Jamaica, N.Y.).

Diplomático estadounidense. Fue delegado al Congreso continental (1784–87), donde abogó por una nueva constitución. Colaboró en la redacción de la Constitución de los Estados Unidos de América y logró la ratificación por Massachusetts. En 1788 se trasladó a Nueva York, donde fue elegido uno de los primeros senadores en representación de ese estado (1789–96, 1813–25). Fue un líder influyente del Partido Federalista e introdujo la disposición antiesclavista del documento de 1787 que integró las ordenanzas de 1784, 1785 y 1787. Fue embajador en Gran Bretaña de 1796 a 1803 y de 1825 a 1826.
